Rajesh D Devangaon
Rajesh D. Devangaon — The Architect of Living Murals
Muralist | Painter | Master of Earth, Color & Wall.
Born on 22 October 1976 in the culturally rich land of Gulbarga, Karnataka, Rajesh D. Devangaon’s artistic journey is one of devotion, discipline, and unbroken craftsmanship. What began as a love for paint and clay transformed into a lifelong calling — to shape walls into worlds, surfaces into stories, and spaces into sanctuaries of colour and spirit.
A Journey Carved Through Murals & Mastery
From the vibrant corridors of MMK College of Visual Art to the legendary Faculty of Fine Arts at M.S. University, Baroda, Rajesh journeyed through some of India’s strongest creative academies. His training in mural design sharpened not only his technique but his intuition — teaching him how to listen to a wall before painting on it, how to let a surface breathe before it transforms.
Awards followed him early:
National Scholarship (Govt. of India),
Camel Art Foundation Recognition,
Gold Medals, Youth Festival Honors,
and multiple distinctions that marked him as a rare talent shaped for greatness.
But Rajesh’s true achievement lies not in certificates —it lies in the hundreds of murals he has breathed into existence.
His Art: Walls That Whisper, Surfaces That Sing
Rajesh’s murals are not static.
They move, flow, shift, and speak. Every artwork is an ecosystem — a merging of texture, terracotta, pigment, earth, and spirit. His hands navigate between paint, clay, ceramic, mosaic, and mixed materials with effortless fluency, allowing each mural to carry the weight of narrative and the softness of emotion.
His process feels ancient:
🔥 carving
🔥 molding
🔥 layering
🔥 refining
🔥 awakening color hidden beneath the surface. A Rajesh mural is a living entity — a story etched into architecture.
Viewers often describe them as:“Rhythmic, organic and deeply rooted in the Indian visual soul.”
“Timeless surfaces that feel alive with memory and myth.”
A Presence in Art Halls Across India
Over two decades, Rajesh’s works have traveled far beyond Gulbarga and Bengaluru. His exhibitions have adorned the walls of:
✨ Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru
✨ Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai
✨ Art Core Gallery, Baroda
✨ Gallerie Zen, Bengaluru
✨ Daira Art Gallery, Hyderabad
✨ India Art Festival, New Delhi
✨ International Kala Mela, New Delhi
From intimate solo shows like FORMS and Wide Roads to major group exhibitions across cities, his presence has been constant, powerful, and respected.
Workshops, Camps & the Passing of Wisdom
Rajesh is not only a creator — he is a teacher who carries forward India’s mural traditions.
He has led workshops in:
🟤 Terracotta mural design
🟣 Ceramic & low-melting clay
🟠 Paper-pulp masks
🔵 Printmaking
🟢 Graphic techniques
🟤 Mixed-material sculpture
From Hampi to Baroda, Chennai to Gulbarga, he has guided students, craftsmen, and emerging artists in the ancient and contemporary languages of mural art. Every camp, every workshop is a ritual — a transfer of knowledge from one generation to the next.
A Legacy Built in Walls
Between 2001 and 2018, Rajesh created over 100 murals across:
🌿 Karnataka🌿 Andhra Pradesh
🌿 Visakhapatnam
🌿 Kerala
and dozens more in private collections in India and abroad. Each mural stands as a chapter in his life — a permanent mark on cities, temples, institutions, homes, and creative spaces.
Where He Creates
His creative sanctuary, Muras Art Studio in Bengaluru, is a buzzing hive of colour, clay, design, and innovation — a space where new murals are born and where the ancient meets the contemporary in quiet harmony.
