Pratama G. Doddamani — The Clay Whisperer of Heritage & Light
Photographer | Terracotta Artist | Educator | Art Writer
Born with the eye of a storyteller and the hands of a craft-keeper, Pratama G. Doddamani is an emerging voice in India’s art landscape—shaping earth, light, and memory into powerful visual forms. Her journey merges History, Archaeology, Terracotta, Photography, and Art Writing into one seamless artistic identity, making her a rare multi-disciplinary creator rooted in India’s cultural lineage.
A Journey Carved in Earth, History & Imagination
With a Master’s degree in History & Archaeology from Dharwad University, Pratama carries a scholar’s gaze—one that sees stories not just in monuments but in clay, texture, and everyday life. Her academic background became the quiet backbone of her artistry, influencing her photographs, her terracotta forms, and her reflective writing.
Her entry into the professional art world blossomed through her marriage into a deeply creative family, to renowned artist Ganesh Doddamani. Immersed in a household of colours, discussions, and artistic rhythm, she transformed her skills from passion into profession, and her curiosity into mastery.
Terracotta: Her Element, Her Language
Pratama is known for her growing command over Terracotta Art and Pottery, blending traditional techniques with her own modern sensibilities. Certified by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, and further trained through the SAMARTH Handicrafts Programme, she shapes clay with the intuition of someone listening to ancestral whispers.
Every creation—be it a vessel, sculpture, or textured form—carries her signature:
✨ earth-rooted simplicity
✨ archaeological sensitivity
✨ cultural storytelling
Her ceramics feel like rediscovered artefacts—timeless, warm, and deeply human.
Photography: Stories Written in Light
For Pratama, photography is not just an image—it is a window into lived history. Guided by her archaeological vision, she captures textures, places, people, and moments with a rare emotional balance: both reflective and raw.
Her work in Bangalore and Delhi exhibitions has been noted for its narrative quality, where each photograph feels like a preserved shard of time.
The Writer: Preserving Artists & Art Histories
Apart from her visual practice, Pratama is also an art writer and critic, crafting analytical and insightful articles on artists, art forms, and contemporary visual culture. Her writing is shaped by academic depth and artistic empathy, making her voice both knowledgeable and nurturing.
The Educator: Building the Next Generation of Creators
As owner of her Art & Pottery School in Shakarnagar, Bangalore, Pratama trains students in pottery, painting, and handicrafts—passing forward skills that echo India’s craft heritage. Her school stands as a space where tradition meets experimentation, and where young learners discover the joy of working with earth and form.
