Eligibility Criteria for Artist Registration & Application Form

The Karnataka Artists Village Trust invites artists from all over the world to become part of a dedicated, culturally rich, and eco-conscious community. Artist registration is mandatory for purchasing plots within the village.

To register as an Artist Member with the Karnataka Artists Village Trust, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

1. Artistic Background

The applicant must be engaged in at least one recognized art form, including but not limited to:

  • Visual Arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, mural art, etc.)
  • Traditional Visual Arts & Generational Arts ( Madhubani, Warli Art, Kathputli , Bommalattam, Togalu Gombeyaata Kalamkari, Pattachitra, Gond Art, Tanjore Painting, Phad Painting, Channapatna Toys, Kondapalli Toys, Black Pottery, Metal Cast, Dhokra Art, Kutch Embroidery, Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, Kathakali, KuchipudiOdissi, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, Sattriya, Chhau, Bihu, Carnatic, Garba & Dandiya, Sitar, Sarod, Veena, Tabla, Mridangam, Pakhawaj,Flute, Shehnai, Nadaswaram, Lavani, Ghoomar, Hindustani. etc )
  • Performing Arts (dance, theatre, acting, puppetry, performance art)
  • Craft & Traditional Arts (handicrafts, folk art, pottery, weaving, woodwork, metal craft, toy-making, etc.)
  • Music (vocal, instrumental, composing, sound art)
  • Digital & Contemporary Arts (digital illustration, animation, concept art, video art, new media)
  • Photography & Cinematic Arts
  • Literary Arts (writing, poetry, storytelling)
  • Design-based Arts (fashion, interior, product, textile design)
  • Contact Us if any of the other art forms than mentioned above.

2. Portfolio Submission

Applicants must provide a verifiable portfolio through one or more of the following:

  • Digital portfolio (PDF, website, social page, or drive link)
  • Images or videos of original artworks
  • Recordings, publications, or professional work samples
  • Certificates or documentation from exhibitions, performances, or art events (if available)

(Note: The Trust evaluates artistic merit, originality, and consistency, not popularity or commercial metrics.)

3. Identity & Background Verification

Applicants must provide valid identity proof and personal details for verification, including:

  • Government-issued ID (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN, etc.)
  • Contact details (phone number + email)
  • Proof of address

4. International Artist Requirements

Artists from outside India must additionally submit:

  • Valid passport
  • Relevant No Objection Certificates (NOCs)
  • Any approval documents required by Indian authorities or the Trust

5. Commitment to Community & Art

Applicants must demonstrate willingness to:

  • Participate in the artistic culture of the village
  • Respect and uphold the Trust’s guidelines
  • Maintain healthy, respectful, and collaborative relations with fellow artists
  • Support eco-friendly, peaceful, and creative community values

6. Age Requirement

The applicant must be 18 years or older at the time of registration.

7. Non-commercial Intent

Registration is limited to genuine artists, not investors or commercial buyers. The applicant must intend to:

  • Live, create, or contribute artistically within the village
  • Use the plot for residential and artist-related purposes only

8. Trust’s Decision

The Trust reserves full rights to:

  • Approve or reject any registration
  • Request additional documents, proof, or clarification
  • Conduct background or authenticity checks if needed

Decisions made by the Trust regarding eligibility are final and binding.
